City Fire Departments
Each individual city has different practices and rules when it comes to firefighting. Some cities use helicopters regularly and others don't often find a reason to take to the skies. Whichever category a city falls into, however, is sure to understand the practical uses and applications of using a helicopter to help fight fires.
Los Angeles Firefighting Helicopters
Of all of the cities on this website, Los Angeles is definitely the predominant user of the firefighting helicopter. This is largely due to the fact that much of California is grassland, and when a wildfire begins in the area it is very difficult to put out. The firefighting helicopter can substantially aid in this endeavor.
Massachusetts Firefighting Helicopters
While the firefighting helicopters are used a bit in Massachusetts, they aren't a mainstay in the state's regular fire department options. Using a firefighting helicopter in the state would probably occur, however, if there was a wildfire situation.
NYC Firefighting Helicopters
New York City is one of those cities that doesn't use firefighting helicopters very often. In such a large city it just isn't practical. However, the FDNY does have some special procedures and practices that they can uniquely call their own.
